Director of Operations

OPPORTUNITY: An exciting position as Director of Operations for a long-established disability services provider in Santa Clara County. Candidate should have extensive experience developing, managing and growing DDS-funded adult services. Candidate must be a superior motivator and people manager with excellent organizational and communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES

With guidance from the Executive Director, the Director of Operations provides staff leadership and direction to ensure that daily and year-round operations flow smoothly in compliance with agency policies and procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. The Director of Operations is second-in-command to the Executive Director and has acting executive management authority in the absence of the Executive Director.

DUTIES

Management Support

The Director of Operations is a key management team member. As directed, the Director of Operations assists the Executive Director to:

  1. Provide a credible and informed presence for the GO in the community
  2. Develop relationships and collaborations with SARC, DDS, and appropriate community groups serving adults with developmental disabilities to ensure that the GO is an integral and visible member of the disability services community
  3. Evaluate, create and maintain internal systems, policies and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness
  4. Lead by example and recruit, coach, and retain a strong staff team with a broad range of skills to help the organization achieve its business priorities now and in the future
  5. Inspire employees to set challenging goals and seize opportunities that are aligned with organizational strategy and goals
  6. Ensure that effective human resource practices are used consistently including up-to-date position descriptions and regular performance evaluations
  7. Ensure compliance with personnel policies established by the Board of Directors and with all federal and state regulations
  8. Oversee the operations of the facilities including lease arrangements, maintenance, construction, and renovation of building and grounds
  9. Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the issues, trends, emerging needs, community organizations and stakeholders in the community in supportive and independent living, day services, and summer activities for adults with development disabilities

Direct Duties

The Director of Operations has the primary responsibility to:

  1. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Program Coordinators
  2. Manage programs cost effectively
  3. Organize and provide direct services to consumers, through delegation to staff
  4. Develop program models and curricula
  5. Ensure that Individual Service Plans (ISPs) are complete, with functional and measurable objectives utilizing all natural and generic support services and community resources
  6. Ensure that plans and services adequately address risks to the health, safety and well-being of consumers.
  7. Conduct unannounced visits to consumer homes to ensure consumer health, safety and well-being and to monitor staff job performance.
  8. Ensure that consumer intakes and assessments are conducted as needed.
  9. Ensure that staff prepare for and attend all annual and semi-annual meetings with consumers, family members, care providers, and San Andreas Regional Center Service Coordinators.
  10. Ensure that staff conduct regular circle of support meetings
  11. Ensure that staff maintain up-to-date consumer records
  12. Evaluate services
  13. Promote maximum program utilization through active leadership in marketing and public relations activities, as directed.
  14. Meet with the Executive Director as directed for strategic planning, problem-solving and troubleshooting staff and consumer issues
  15. Conduct weekly management meeting
  16. Conduct quarterly All Staff meeting
  17. Ensure staff training in core competencies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skills, Experience and Training:

  • Five years’ experience working with persons with developmental disabilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong computer literacy (Internet, email, word-processing, spreadsheets, social media)
  • Able to add, subtract, divide, multiply, use percentages and fractions, create graphs
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and persuasively both orally and in writing
  • Two years’ previous supervisory experience
  • Current DMV license and good driving record
  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing: Not required
  • Sitting: Must be able to sit regularly for extended periods
  • Lifting: Not required
  • Reaching: Must be able to reach and handle filed documents
  • Speech and Language: Must be able to clearly speak and write English
  • Vision: Vision correctable to DMV licensing standards
  • Hearing: Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone and in person.
  • Health Screening: Must complete a TB Test screen.
  • Clean Record: Must complete DOJ background screening

COMPENSATION

$95K to $105K doe. Full-time, exempt position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, ltd, ad&d, EAC

ILS Direct Support Staff

Seeking a flexible full time position? Support the DD community

We are currently seeking professional and compassionate individuals to work as “direct support staff/life skills trainers” in our Independent Living Services Program. The Independent Living Services Program provides 1:1 support and training to clients living independently in the community in their own homes.
We are hiring both full-time and part-time staff.
We offer competitive compensation (hourly wage rate varies based on assignment), and full benefits to employees who work 30+ hours: medical, vacation and sick leave, accidental death and disability, life insurance.

Program Assistant-Adult Day Services

We are currently seeking professional and compassionate individuals for the position of “Program Assistant” in our Adult Development and Activity Center.

Shift: 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday (Full Time)

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, Program Assistants in the Adult Development and Activity Center Day Program help to design, lead and implement facility-based and community-based activities that are tailored to the needs, strengths, interests and preferences of consumers in order to develop consumers’ functional skills, enrich their lives through community integration and self-advocacy, further their independence through the development of employment and self-care skills, as well as provide structured opportunities for creative expression and enjoyment.

Assigned activities may include job coaching paid work sites, directing volunteer work at non-profit organizations; supporting development of independent living skills through activities such as using the computer and Internet; public transit, cooking and nutrition, growing vegetables; fulfilling needs for creative expression through activities such as music, dance, art, crafts, and photography; leading social recreational activities such as physical fitness, golf, swimming and bowling; and orienting consumers in how to access community resources such as the library, parks and recreation centers.

Compensation: 14.19 + Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Long Term Disability Insurance

SLS Personal Assistant

We are currently seeking professional and compassionate individuals for the position of “Personal Assistant” in our Supported Living Program.

Responsibilities: 

Under the direction of the SLS Program Coordinator, Personal Assistants in the Supported Living Services Program provide services directly to consumers in their own homes, with goals and levels of support determined jointly by consumers and their circles of support (friends, family members, partners). Supported living services provided by the Program Assistant range from minimal assistance to 24-hour care, depending on the type and severity of the individual’s disability. These services are provided for persons with any level of ability/disability.

We have “Full time” and “Part time” opportunities available, including weekends.
